Default Front shocks/struts question????

My car (2007 C2S) has 25,000 miles on it, and a DE inspection has revealed that one of the front shocks/struts has a bit of play in it. They said it's ok for the rest of the season and that I will need to change both front shocks before I put her away for winter storage.

The roads in Montreal are terrible at best.....so there is no surprise here.

I found someone that is selling 2 front shocks off a 997 GT3 (2010).

Any issue with installing theses? are there any differences?

Thanks in advance

I believe you'll need to replace the top plates / hats to use them. I've looked into it a bit and it is doable but you'll need some extra pieces to make them fit. Might be a good time to go Damptronic.

I'm from Montreal originally. I lived there for 22 years. I now live in Boca Raton, FL, but I know exactly what you mean. It's impossible to drive almost anywhere without hitting a bad bump or pothole. I would caution against using GT3 shocks since there weren't designed for a Carrera S and since it appears that you may be planning to use them with your OEM rear shocks. That could be a serious mis-match and affect driving and handling. I also think that the ride may be harder with GT3 shocks and that may make for a less than pleasant drive on Montreal roads. I remember thinking when I was in my father's '06 base Carrera before he returned it (it was leased) in 2008 that the car handled the poor conditions of the road remarkably well. PASM should be way better and I'd probably stick with OEM parts for a Carrera S.
