Original owners?
Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering how many of the regular followers on this forum are original owners of their 997s. I've been following this forum for quite a while now. Sometimes I'm more of a lurker, sometimes I wander away for awhile, but I always end up coming back. I've had my 2012 GTS since Dec 2011. It's interesting how the forum has changed over the years. The posts back then tended to be more about the characteristics of the new cars, performance of the new cars, comparing and contrasting different models of new cars, etc, while now the nature of the posts tend to be with modifications, problems, repairs, etc. They tend to be more technically oriented. My car continues to get better and better. I feel that it drives much better now at 17,000 miles than it did when it was new. I can't necessarily explain it. The engine and gear box seem to be much more well tuned than before. I'm wondering if any of you have had the cars long enough to notice similar changes, that they get broken in over time. It's seeming to really gel now.
I have to admit, when I first purchased the car it left me a bit cold. Even though on paper I knew it was head and shoulders a better car than my 08 base cab, somehow it seemed to evoke less passion. But now I'm really loving this car.
As some you might remember, I was involved in a minor accident approximately 6 months ago. I was hit by a Subaru driver, after which I embarked upon a diminished value claim with the other driver's insurance company, and I'm happy to say that I prevailed and am receiving a nice settlement check. It wasn't easy, and it involved a lot of negotiating and bizarro world insurance company tactics, but in the end, my attorney and I were able to get it done. Now it is repaired and is running so well and looking and feeling perfect, it seems like I will probably go ahead and buy an extended warranty and keep this thing for a good long time.
Oh, and it has a GT4 little brother on the way.
Happy driving to all of you, both original owners and those of you that are reaping the benefit of those of us who are breaking the cars in for you.

Well I am actually on both side of this equation. 9.5 years ago I bought a brand new Atlas Grey 2006 C2S. I drove it for 1.5 years and sold it due to a job change and move. 10 months ago I came across another atlas grey 06 C2s, with less than 8K miles and bought it. I hope the Original Owner took as good care of this one as I did with my first one.
After 8 months of mods this is a keeper... I'm now remodeling a garage (and the house that goes with it) to give it a proper home.

2nd owner of a 2011 911 GTS. Had it for for over 2 months now. Love it! Puts a smile on my face when driving on the open roads. Pisses me off when driving in traffic with ppl that thinks they have a special talent of texting and driving.

Very cool. Lots of originals. I wouldn't have necessarily guessed that. not that there's anything wrong with being other than the original owner. But there is something special about having a longer relationship with a very very nice car.

Wow 17k miles in a bit over 4 years, averages out to 4,250 miles per year. No wonder you feel more power etc. Your car is just getting broken in... You'll feel the same at about 30k when it's fully broken in. In your climate, drive it more, it's not a collectible, won't be at least not for a while. Enjoy!

Original owners?
I am the 2nd and last owner of my 2009 C2. I purchased it just over 2 years ago with 20k miles from Hendrick in North Carolina. The car was like new - not even a stone chip (there are some now given my Canadian roads). Including a favourable exchange rate at the time, I saved close to 50 percent from buying the same car new in Canada. I could afford and would like to buy new but could not justify it.
I've put another 20k miles in the last two years and I would agree the car is getting better with age. I've done some mods recently (Tech Art springs, Shark Werks) and put on a new set of tires so maybe that is influencing my perception as well but I am still basking in the glow of a 3 hour drive I did last night to my cottage on Lake Huron. The car was just sublime (sorry but that is the word that keeps coming to mind). And your post about all the pieces gelling and the car getting better with age hit home with me. I feel that the car is getting better and can't wait to put the next 20K on it....

Original owner of an 09 C4S with 34K now on the clock. Kept feeling like it was still breaking in until about 30K. Has only required tires and routine maintenance since it went out of warranty. It is my only car and I run it year round. Will have to get a second set of snow tires this Fall. Expect I will keep it at least another four years.

Im still confused over all the designations out there.
Bought at 48000 km or just under 30000 miles.
Thanks to the original owner for breaking it in for me.
Coming up to my 1 year anniversary.

Bought new on 8/31/11. 16,891 miles. Given the direction of 911's likely to own for a long time.
