Stalled car and got CheckEngine Light
they told me one was a voltage code, probably thrown when my battery went belly up a couple of week ago. The other was a MAF code. That describes the rough idle I had after the stall. He suggested that the MAF may be on the way to death, avoid the 300 mile trip to San Antonio in the 997. Does this sound reasonable? The day after the stall and CEL, it ran like usual. Maybe it cleared the active code when the MAF started operating properly?

so i'll try one more time: take out your MAF - you will need a security torx but a set is always good to have around - and clean with MAF cleaner. takes all of 5min (and if you can borrow the torx from someone, will only cost you 5 bucks for the cleaner.)
this is what i did last year when my rough idle barely got me home from work. 10k miles and a couple dozen track days later and it hasnt recurred.
Brand:
Bremi $120
Bosch: $236
Porsche OEM: $514
Which one to buy? Any know about the Bremi band?
I would rather have the Bosch, name recognition....but the Bremi is half the cost!
SunCoast Porsche:
Mass Air Flow Sensors - w/o E-Gas $477
Mass Air Flow Sensor - with E-Gas $385
Which one? W/O E-Gas or with E-Gas
Is there really a difference?

Bosch over all other brands and then of course Porsche. I've tried a number of brands over the decades so lots of lessons learned with my Volvos and Mercedes which all use Bosch as their OEM or MAFs. I'm not afraid to try a good cleaning but in your case, I would simply change the MAF because it popped a code. In the end it will be cheaper than being stuck on the side of the road.
Change it out now, take the car on the road trip. Send Suncoast the VIN of your car to confirm the correct part number. Then give them a call and talk price.
Remember, it's about smiles per mile.

$12 is not worth the hassle. I was not able to find a real person to talk to at partsgeek. I was able to call up and talk to a human at CARiD. For $12 I will gladly pay for the correct part.
