Default Battery guideance

Hi all,

Turned the key over this morning and got some clicking and lights flashing.

Any tips on what the best next step would be? I'm thinking of jumping it with another car. Is there something else I can do to find the root cause though?

I had a similar experience a couple of months ago. I put in a new battery, and problem solved.

The car was running fine the night before when it went into the garage, but in the morning all I got was the clicking noise of the solenoid and the lights flashing, then nothing.

Yea just give her a jump and then you will know if it is the battery (most likely). These batteries give out sooner than you would expect. If you had it parked for extended period of time then you might be able to get away with a few more months on the battery (if you are driving more now than before). I don't think I would trust the battery for much longer. There is a "jumping" section in the manual if you need it.

Default Battery guideance

My car did this too recently. Replaced the battery and all was good again. If you have a trickle charger you can use that to see if you can get the battery charge up enough to get it to start. Worked once for me and then the battery just didn't want to hold enough charge anymore.

Note, when I replaced the battery I had the car on the trickle charger as a way to not lose all my settings.

Good luck.

Buy a new battery from places like AutoZone, WalMart. Get the polarity right and connect the vent tube.

Right - pay attention to polarity - positive is on passenger side, ground is on driver's side - it's easy to put the battery in the tray backwards.

Cool, thanks all! Think I have a plan. Going to top this battery up with distilled water. It looks pretty dry. Then jump it and take it for a ride. If it doesn't start I will drop a new one in there.

Any special kind of battery requirements or recommendations other than the size?

Default Expected battery life

How long do the batteries typically last? Just curious to have an idea when I might need to replace them, since my batteries are already about 3 years old. TIA!

I replaced my 997's battery after 4 years. Some threads here states if you keep your battery plugged on a charger it may prolong its life to 6-7 years. I've been keeping my batteries plugged since then.

This is the one I use:
CTEK (56-158) MULTI US 3300
$53.77 prime

When the OEM batteries fail they go fast - start one day, dead the next so don't get caught. Size is H7 - Walmart, Interstate, etc. all good replacements and with better warranty than Porsche Moll.

Size is H7 or 94R. Wal-mart battery made by Johnson Controls is a great replacement. Costco also sells one. Should be around $100. OEM battery only lasts 3-4 years and not worth messing around with

Car should be on maintainer when not in use for extended periods

Replaced mine like 2 or 3 weeks ago with Walmart's Everstart H7 battery, it's a perfect fit.

My original battery lasted a long time, almost six years. I replaced it with an InterState. Yes, it starts the car.
