Atlas is the best color, period. Looks bluish in bright daylight, black at night and grabs all kinds of color at sunrise and sunset. Oh and it's the fastest regardless of what the guards red guys say

Thank you Speedvagen and Blu311! I have always been a big fan of the Terracotta and the Cocoa interiors on Porsches. Very happy to have found a 911s with that interior, and what seems like a rare color combo. I did not give much thought to exterior color, but I think I will really like the Atlas gray.

Well, today was the day. On my Birthday no less. The 911s arrived from California. My first Porsche, and I am in love. What a driving experience, unlike any thing else I have driven. The color is more stunning in person, and the sound, oh the sound. My two daughters got the first ride, and they giggled like the school girls they are the entire drive. Those of you more seasoned in the Porsche 911 world might be used to the experience, but I cannot imagine ever getting tired of driving this car.... radio off....windows down. Just had to share with all of you. Next order of business, PCA, and to become a paying member of this awesome forum. Take care and be well.

Great birthday present! Would be interested in hearing your buying experience. I've often wondered about the process of buying at a greater distance than 500 miles. Did your trade anything? Dealer or private seller? CPO car, etc, etc.

Melbourne15: Congratulation on getting you first Porsche! I like the interior color combo! I bet when you took delivery it must have been like all previous birthday gifts all rolled into one! I certainly remember the feeling when I took delivery of my first Porsche. I wish you happy motoring for many years to come and welcome to the 997 community!

Thank you all for the warm reception to the 997 club. It has been an interesting journey, one that I will share in the coming weeks. Bought the car while living in Australia, car was in California, had it shipped to home in Illinois, just a teaser!
I do have a question though. While the car was being unloaded off the transporter, and sitting idling in the street for awhile, I noticed the spoiler was raised only about half way, not fully extended (there is a joke in there somewhere). I pushed the manual spoiler button and it raised fully. After shutting the car off, the spoiler went all of the way down. I did not notice any failure message in the dash readout. Is it normal for the spoiler to raise in varying degrees, or is it either fully open or fully closed? Hope I don't have my first problem, car has 60k miles on it. It is a 2009 S if that helps. Thanks in advance for the help!

I have only driven behind my own car a couple of times, both were on the FWY going at a good speed. I only observed the rear wing extended fully and don't remember ever saw it partially deployed parked or otherwise. Sounds like a great question for your local Porsche Service Department. Very curious to know the answer when you find out.
