I read some threads suggesting I purchase LED bulbs with the built in resistor. I thought I bought the right ones, they function fine, but I'm getting "check side marker" warnings for both sides.
Following up to see if anyone has had success with 194 LED bulbs in the side markers. So far sylvania and auxito have given me the same error. I bought load equalizers, but wanted to see if any bulbs work before I splice them into the wiring.
CANbus enabled bulbs have the resistor in them and should avoid the bulb out problem. I have not tried them in the Porsche, however, so no guarantees and don't blame me if they don't work. These 194s are CANbus, for example:
Unfortunately, the Auxito bulbs were CANBUS error-free but still had the issue. As with most upgrades, it was purely asthetics. I like the clean “snap” of LEDs turning on and off better than the “fade” in and out of incandescent. Just wanted to match the DEPO rear lights. Guess I’ll update if I have a solution.
Although the color of the LED lamps are amber, and you can see the amber through the clear side marker.
For a clean / clear look, chrome coated bulbs would look clear until illuminated.
Website seems to imply that they are build with VW in mind, which gives me confidence. I’m also trying get amber bulbs for clear housings so this works. I’ll give these a try, thanks!

I used same company for my Audi and no light errors and replaced all interior bulbs and license plate lights on my 997 without error. Only bulb I didn’t replace was glovebox, as I read many people having problems and it wasn’t worth the risk to me.

Thank you Dr H! I already tried 3 different 'canbus' bulbs for my sidemarkets on my 997.2 with no luck. But seeing you're tested this set I've put in an order. Do you photos of them illuminated?
Another option I found, I think looks really slick is this: https://www.fvd.net/us-en/FVD6319970...972-clear.html
Doesn't work on my RS which is a shame due to the tacked on front fender flares. but it's a better LED design side marker.

Success with Amazon side markers after a 997.2 owner posted a review. Ordered 7507 and H8 LEDs bulbs for front bumper blinker and fog/DRL lights. Will keep you posted.
