New 997.2 Targa 4S owner in Socal
Just thought I'd introduce myself.
I just purchased a 2009 Targa 4S this weekend. PDK and sports chrono. Color is Racing Green (22G).
I really love the look of the sliding glass targa, and have wanted one for a while, but not all that easy to find, especially if you don't want a black car.
I was originally looking at 2007-2008 model years, but this 2009 showed up locally. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but from reading here, it sounds like the general advice was to go with a 997.2 if you can do it.
This will be my daily driver. Originally was going to store it in the driveway (due to lack of garage space), but when my wife saw it, she thought it had to go in the garage. So, we moved some stuff around, and it is being stored in the garage at night, next to my 1975 308GT4 (hence, my user name).
I'd like to find a nice independent in Orange County to get it serviced. I've searched the site a bit, and it seems that 2 that are often mentioned at GMG and Hergensheimer. Any others I should consider?
Not much else to say at this point. I can't believe I bought a Porsche (this is my first Porsche), and I am loving it so far. I hope the stories I hear about these cars being bulletproof are true. Now, I can drive in to work every day with a smile on my face.

Congrats! Will be great fun and frankly you're in the best locale possible for enjoying those cars. Nice garage to wake up to!

You need to find space for a viewing couch in your garage! Great looking cars. Welcome to the club ... I predict that you are going to love your new ride! Congratulations!

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I still can't believe I bought it...
rickdogg82: The 308GT4 is pretty awesome. Very raw feeling, exactly what you'd expect from an old Ferrari (the right sounds and smell). It's not very fast, but still fast enough to get you into trouble. Maintenance is expensive, as you would expect, but not too bad, as I typically only drive a couple thousand miles/year. I've had the car for 13 or 14 years now.

Great car! I am also envious of those who have an air compressor at home. Air tools make your maintenance a lot easier.
