Question Cost of backrest cover replacement?

Hi all!

I found a 997 GTS Cab (with 22k miles) which I'd potentially buy. Unfortunately it has scratched backrest covers, due to the wind deflector touching them and constantly rubbing while driving. What's the cost of replacing them (parts & labor)? It's esthetically unpleasing, but nothing serious. I just need an idea of what my haggle room is.

Thanks!
Nicola

Another option (perhaps even cheaper) would be to have those covered with leather by a competent auto upholsterer.

Just talked to the sales person, he said spraying it in the car color is an option, too. Cost: ballpark figure of $800.

If you go that route you should talk to Eric at BumperPlugs - where you will get the best service. You can do it body color or any other finish.

Color matched seat backs were/are a Porsche bespoke option. Lots of people have had their seat backs painted and if you have not seen many cars with this treatment i encourage you to google some images as they look bonkers great. There is ton of work disassembling and assembling the seats to paint them correctly so really $800 is not that bad. I was between two S a year ago when I finally bought my car. One was a highly optioned white car with color matched seat backs, fabulous looking, and a super high optioned silver car with full leather and sports exhaust with less milage and 7K less. Cheers

Apparently it's not uncommon to get these touched up. I bought mine (sand beige with a metallic grey back) online and noticed the back on one was scratched up in the pics. The seller has it touched up at the dealer and I can't spot where it was done.

I think the sport seat backs are great candidates for vinyl wrap - assuming you can find the color you want. I think I can approximate Speed Yellow... going to find a vendor to give me an estimate.
