Default Transmission output (half-shaft) seal R/R

Bled the brakes today and I noticed that I'm getting some weeping from one of the transmission output shaft seals (the one that drives the half shafts).

Seems like an easy enough job.

Can anyone help with:
  • Does anyone know where I can find a DIY? Always nice to see one. Or even just a pic is helpful.
  • Do I need to pull all the control arms or is there enough play to move the half shaft out of the way by just pulling the bolts on the trans output flange?
  • Are the output shafts/flanges held in with any kind of clip? It looks like not from the parts diagrams.
  • torque values for the the half shaft flange bolts?

Thanks!

This article covers the removal of the differential. You really only need to pay attention to the seal replacement parts. ONE BIG DIFFERENCE on the Carrera is that the flange is BOLTED to the differential. So you will unbolt the center bolt on the flange after removing the axle, rather than using the slide hammer and prybar approach. There is enough play to move the half shaft out of the way. The output shafts/flanges should be bolted in. The torque values are 60ftlbs. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks Uwon- it's great to be able to get some visibility for the project. It looks pretty straight forward.
