Very nice looking wheel. I miss the good old days look and feel of the simple steering wheel but I'll keep my modern airbag in todays cell phone obsessed driving environment.

Love the steering wheel, but not on a 997. Also, the lack of an airbag would worry me.

Nice but pray tell, What is the purpose of the swap? Is it a track only car?

prefer the modern steering wheel esp on such a nice modern looking car. But the old one is nice, more vintage, would be cool on a 80s 911 especially. With whale tail.
Guards red is a beauty on your car.

For those asking, I do solo/autocross so I wanted a smaller wheel and as far as the airbag I don't mind it since I drive a lot of pre-airbag cars. I do daily drive this one as well lol

Isn't an airbag needed for insurance purposes? I thought it was illegal not having a driver side airbag.

I'm not sure if it's illegal, but you raise a good point. I think that, if there is an accident and it can be proven that he sustained injuries that he would not have sustained had there been an airbag in the car, he could be contributorily negligent even if the actual accident was caused by another driver and could be prohibited from recovering money for his damages. Silly risk in my opinion.

"P.A. 84- 1431 (and particularly 735 ILCS 5/2-1107.1 and 5/2-1116 through 2
-1118), effective as to all causes of action accruing on and after November 25, 1986, abolished pure comparative fault. In its place, more than 50% contributory fault of the plaintiff requires a finding that the defendant is not liable and bars the plaintiff from recovering damages. Comparative fault of 50% or less results in a diminution of damages in proportion to the amount of fault attributable to the plaintiff.
" ~ Illinois Pattern Jury Instructions

Illinois is not a "pure" contributory negligence state, but I digress. ... I don't do personal injury (nor would I like to ).

Jossue, who do you autocross with? I used to run with SCCA, but it got a little too serious for me.

I normally run with the local clubs like TriState or Windy City Miata Club.

I hear they lost the Rt.66 Raceway parking lot as a venue.

Shame, that course was fast and fun. Would have been perfect for a 997!

Autobahn is fun, on any configuration, but I think I enjoy Blackhawk Farms more. I like to think of it as the Tsukuba Circuit of the midwest ...

One question and one comment:

1) Why????

2) It's "flair," not flare. Flares are what you light after an accident or shoot up in the air.
