Default Passenger window auto up issues

My passenger window does not always go up automatically when I push the button. It will do it if the window is about 1/2 way up already. This happens regardless of which window switch is use (driver or passenger). I am guessing that this is being caused by too much tension (window out of proper adjustment) between the passenger window glass and the outer wiper/seal on the passenger door. Anyone else have any experience with this? Thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

Working as designed. Don't ask why it was designed that way, but it was.

It's well documented and discussed:
One-touch operation

f
Press the rocker switch upwards or
downwards to the second stage.
Window moves to its final position.
Press again to stop the window in the desired
position.
Coupé
One-touch operation for closing the passenger’s
window is available once the window is approximately

half-way closed.

Find an e-version (pdf) of the owner's manual and read at your leisure - car has lots of strange features and most, if not all, are documented.

It is done to protect children that might be messing with the switches while on their side of the car. Porsche, knowledgeable about the danger in power windows, did that as a precaution

I suppose...... But there is already a safety switch triggered by a hand caught between the roof and glass. I find this feature not only unnecessary, but annoying as hell.

Since cabs are one-touch up on passenger side I guess Porsche doesn't have the same safety concerns or they figure squeeze by the soft top won't hurt as much.

Truly is annoying. But that's how it's designed to work. I blame the lawyers.

sorry JHB, I guess I should have checked the owner's manual first or performed a search. Rather than paying the dealer for a couple of hours of labor to have one or two of the programmable features changed, while still being left with no options for the window and door locking feedback (horn chirp), I do think I'm going to purchase the "remote key" module.

I love Porsche and always have, but I do find some of the non-option options a little moronic. Btw, I am a lawyer.

RemoteKey is a great add-on and will also fix the "no-chirp" horn on lock issue - this is discussed almost as much as the lack of one-touch up on the passenger window.

My guess: Porsche thought american Porsche owner children are too stupid (or their parents too likley to be stupid lawyers) to take on the risk. Meanwhile VW thinks its perfectly fine to have the drivers side switch one-touch up the passenger's window on my 2002 New Beetle.

Either VW owners are less stupid or less litigious.
