Default Painted Rear Spoiler and Bumperettes Black

Inspired by a 996 I ran into in the wild: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ack-retro.html

I plastidipped my rear spoiler and bumperettes black for a more retro look. I really like it. The plain plastidip black looked off at first but a few coats of glossifier did the trick. Fully reversible in case I change my mind. Maybe i'll get those pieces wrapped or painted if I want to keep more permanently.

I like it! Goes well with the black stone guards, well done.

Side mirrors need to be black too to tie everything together.

Very nice...I would only paint the bottom part of the mirror housing.

I saw an old car that a young guy did his hoods and rear lid. After about a year, his actual paint looked rough. Will this product hurt your paint long-term?

Looks nice. It's funny how the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Many 996 guys don't like the black bumperettes and they paint them the same color as the body of their car.

The black accents on you white car work very well.

I think that I'd have to see the OP's handiwork in person before giving the thumbs up, however if he likes it that is all that matters AND it does add what I believe, is necessary contrast for a white car.

I had the lower portions of the mirror housing wrapped...

As far as I know this stuff is harmless....but if I decide to keep the look log term I'll probably get it wrapped.

NO, DON"T DO IT!!! There is already too much black on your car. I don't get the fascination with the black bits.

Even Porsche has gone too far with the black bits on the 991 GTS. The black bits make the GTS look like a test mule and they are fitting parts to see if they work, but they forgot to paint them. I guess the GTS looks like what it is, a "parts bin" car.

Ha. Have to agree with you on that one. It was only feigned interest (though I really DO like David's mirrors).

I have to admit though it's very tempting to keep on adding black bits. This is kind of like the automotive version of the beard. Maybe not the best idea but it's a nice change of pace and it's going to look a little funny for a few days when I take it off.

BTW I was going more for 993 than 991.

JC, thanks for the mirror compliment. The only issue with the way they are currently wrapped is there is a minimal crease which can be seen from only the pilot (or co-pilot) seat but only under certain light.

I do prefer your 993 inspiration so keep up the exploration!
