How do you insure your car?
I currently have mine added to my homeowners policy with the other cars\house\umbrella etc. But,its currently the most costly car to insure on my policy even though its not my DD.
I know there are other insurers out there that specialize in getting us full value for our cars in the event of a disaster. I'm curious as to if its apples to apples coverage.

Is your car insured for non school and non work? Something like 7500 miles per year? This will save you $$. Turn off for winter storage. I have State Farm.

I live in TX so i can drive year around -- so winter storage is out. Not sure on the mileage -- i don't think I have any limits now. I do Autocross the car... not sure if this is a factor??

USAA. Unfortunately I still have the car financed so dropping coverage for a few months isn't an option. Still, their rates are reasonable as long as you have a clean driving record. You also save if you have multiple policies (home, insurance, auto).

I insure it the same as all my other cars. It doesn't really cost more or less then my wife's SUV.
Of course insurance premiums are a regional and personal thing.

I'm currently getting a good rate on Geico after Hartford dramatically raised my rates for all of our cars rather dramatically. My Porsche's cost is almost the same as my wife's Buick LaCrosse, possibly due to her having an accident on record.
The national PCA site has a link for a couple of insurers that special in Porsches, one for general coverage (especially old models and pleasure-use only cars) and one for track event insurance. It may be work looking on the pca.org site here: https://www.pca.org/insurance-quotes

Insured under multi-policy, house, umbrella, and other cars. It's insured as a recreational vehicle with less than 5,000 miles a year. Practically free to insure, I'm paying 100 a month for 4 cars.

Lockton Affinity provides a service for Track insurance. It's amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone that can't afford to total their car. (You may be a good driver but you don't control the guy spinning in front of you!)

Met Life - house, car, umbrella - so like others, we bundle. Service on claims is good. We had a hail storm last spring, and they sent an adjuster lickety split. Not bad considering the large # of people who had house and car claims in that hail storm that hit DFW last spring…T

If you are 50 years or older, as I would imagine quite a few 997 drivers are, you qualify for AARP's Hartford Insurance, which has very low rates-if you have a decent driving record.
The biggest factor with AARP/Hartford over which you have some control (other than your driving record) is your self-report on how many miles you estimate you drive your Porsche the next year and, if you have two vehicles, do you commute in your Porsche? Low and no are the best answers here.
Of course if you live in a big congested city, you get slammed. San Francisco, here in CA, has some of the very highest rates in the US.

State farm for me and my 997 is about $20 more a month than my VW to insure. No points and no at fault accidents on my license. I have been very pleased with State Farm, it's the only insurance company I've had where they periodically reevaluate my vehicles and lower my monthly payment on their own.
