Default new TPMS freshness

I bought a new set of TPMS for my 997.1S from Suncoast. The packages are labeled with dates in June and July, 2014. Are these already stale?

Nope. That's just a manufacturer date. Batteries are in a sleep state until mounted and activated. I would not blink an eye. You have full life left in them.

Has anyone tried the aftermarket TPMS sensors? I'm look on ebay and there are a ton of cheaper options just don't want to have to pull them after a year.

I used aftermarket sensors in my winter wheels, and they work beautifully, at only $50 a pop. Decided to replace my recently deceased summer wheel sensors with ones from same company as first set and lo and behold - only one of them works. Could have been bad sensors, could have been bad installer - I have no idea; don't feel like getting wheels off the car again to find out.

But to the OP, I would think as soon as batteries are installed in sensor circuits, their countdowns start, no matter how little the draw in 'sleep' mode. Yours are already almost a year old, so you have about 5-6 left.

If you buy the Porsche OEM ones from people like Sunset Porsche or Suncoast Porsche they are substantially cheaper than most dealerships.

Try the Huff Intellisens. I have a thread where I explain how to get them activated. I have had no issues since.

After calling the dealer and getting a quote for $1300, including the reprogramming cost of $150 I decided to go the eBay route.

Sensors, $170 shipped, my local discount tire $20/wheel. No more annoying beep or red and yellow warning. Only one week in so time will tell......

I purchased a set of Titan brand TPMS sensors from oewheels llc. They have been inconsistent over the last year. I can go weeks where they are fine or I'll have to re-initialize them because one or more has lost communication.

Wish I had gone with Huf Beru at twice the price, or even OE ones.

Don't buy the cheap ones for oewheels. bOnly was able to have 2 work at a time all summer and the service was terrible. I ordered the new huff ones hoping problem solved

No...not the Porsche TPMS. There may be aftermarket alternatives but imagine they are pretty "kludgy".

I may add these when I replace the PS2s I have on the fronts.
I blew out my rear tire the other week, was not positive the rough ride was a flat, ended up driving a couple of miles on the flat. Porsche wanted $675 for a new Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 295/30 R19
Bought one from TireRack for $520 delivered to my front door in one day.
If I had a TPMS, I would have immediatley known the tire was flat and pulled over, possibly saving the tire?
