Default Oil Leak 3.8l passenger side

While installing my Fister exhaust I noticed the passenger side of the motor has a light oil residue on it. I have not visible oil leaking on the ground so I am assuming this is a small leak, possibly a bad gasket that lets it leak during acceleration. Are there known issues with the 3.8l and passenger side oil leaks? It's a 2006 cab model.

Thanks

RMS leak is pretty common, but can't say if this is your issue without more info. Do you have a photo of where you see the residue?

I did not take pictures but it was from front of motor to the back on lower side. Heat shield that covers the head had it on it along with the what I assume is a pump at the rear of the motor. It was a thin layer of old dirty oil and road grime. I will see if I can get some pictures tonight. I did not clean it up as I want to investigate further.

Possibly the Cam/lift Actuator solenoid. It is just under the heat shield and has a tendency to weep oil. My 996 had weeping oil from it.

Here a few pics from under the car, plan is to clean up the oil and drive it awhile to see if I can pinpoint its source.

my bet: oil pressure sender leaking. located top of right/passenger bank. that's what my underside looked like. cheap part, relatively easy DIY.
