Default First post and I need advise (Pictures included)

Hello,

I have been reading for the last year and gained a lot of useful information so Thank you for all who contribute. Since it's my first post I thought I would include a picture of my 2006 997 Cab. S I have had it 1 year and so far only mod's are new wheels, led driving lights, zunsport grilles and radio system. The reason I am posting is that I am in the midst of adding Fister Mufflers which will be delivered tomorrow. In preparation I have the old ones off and waiting to ship back. My question....since I have the rear bumper and mufflers out should I consider changing the coils and plugs? I keep debating this in my mind although I know I should just do it. I am right at 40k miles. The car was cert. about 2 years ago but I did not get the actual certification as someone owned it for about 6mos prior to me.

Anyway whats your opinion. Also should I stick with Bosch plugs?

Thanks!

I'm a practitioner of "whileyouratititis".
Who's doing your exhaust? Your indy?
I seem to remember doing mine at 6ok.
I don't remember the 40k service.
With the car up, and the bumper off,it is a great time to inspect.
I'm assuming your car is put away in the winter.
If it were me. I would have them at least on hand.
6 plugs and coils, in a box in the frunk.
Bought at a great and fair price, when you don't really need them.
Also, a water pump inspecting and an expansion tank inspection.
Oil change time?

Thanks for the info......ordered the plugs and coils. They will go in tomorrow along with the new mufflers. Oil was just changed before it into winter storage so I should be good for the season.

I am doing the work myself, I saw a write up on the plug and coil replacement so not too worried about that.....just need to have patience. Also will check for info on inspecting water pump and expansion tank.

Thanks for the info....

As others would suggest, penetrating oil on the muffler bolts the night before. May ease removal, and negate $wear jar infu$ion.
Pictures for your own dis-assembly reassembly.
Which way was that clamp to be positioned?

Just did exactly the same job, Fister install and whileiamatit the spark plugs as well. Before that I had done the plugs with the mufflers in place. To me it did not seem any easier with the mufflers off, so unless your plugs need to be changed, I would not necessarly do it. Mine looked like new when I took them out.

Clear corners STAT! Especially on a silver car.
