Default 18 x 10 rears on 997 c2?

Just picked up an 09 c2 pdk. it cam with 19 x 11 with 295's on rear, 235 on front.
I was thinking of goin to 18s. Do they look funny with such a big wheel arch and 18's. Its a pretty hard ride. Im going to go with pss9/10 or kw v3 to soften the ride a little. My car does not have pasm, just sport chrono.
Id like to hear feedback on guys that have made the switch to 18s .
thanks,
kevin

Your ride is harsh now? On stock suspension? Your in for a ride if u think kw is softer smoother then stock IMO

You'll get used to the ride. Then everything else your drive will seem too soft.

I'm running 18in wheels on winter tires right now, that's about as soft as you can get and I have Sport PASM.

I definitely feel a difference when I switch over to the 19's with summer tires but after a couple of days everything goes back to feeling normal.

It's a sports car and it has tight suspension. What did you drive before?

I just went from 18s to 19s on a C2S with PASM. I didn't feel a significant ride quality difference.

Default 18/19"

3 series- I drove 993 with pss9s and 18 10x8.
I was able to adjust ride to my liking.
I don't dislike the ride now, but the pss9 with 18s was really nice.
I understand it's a sports car.
Thanks for the comments.

How old are the tires? Mine came with factory originals. Tread was ok, but they rode like made out of stone.

Running 305 19's. No complaints.
Mind you when I engage Sport mode, mouth guard in so as not to chip the teeth.

tire age makes a huge difference. before my 997, I had cayman which was also on factory 19's. When I got the car, the tires were original and 6 years old. They were hard as a rock. after changing them out, the ride improvement was really noticable.

I agree with everyone about checking the tire age.

Also, a lot of us are misled by a quick glance at the inflation info on the door to think you need to run 37/44. However, that is only if you are running the car fully loaded with all passengers and luggage. There are a lot of opinions about this, but in general I've been running around 34/39 when cold and feel like I have a good balance for general sporty driving. It tends to rise around 4 PSI each. For autocross or aggressive driving the numbers could be different, but I'll leave that up to someone with more track experience if you wish to know about that.

Same here, had 18s and switch to 19s, no change in ride at all. Its by no means softer with the 18s and I was surprised by that and thats OEM to OEM.

I hate how soft my stock 997.2 feels. (19's on BBS RS-GT's) I will push my 993 on PSS9's much harder than my stock 997.2 because I know exactly where I'm at based on how well it is set up. I can't wait upgrade to PSS10's on the .2 so I can get the same experience in the water pumper.

But like someone else said, If you think the stock set up is too harsh wait until you put on the Bilstein's even in the most compliant setting.

No no no.. it will be perfect... perfect for me to buy after he doesn't like em..

But, on that note, can you think about buying B16 Damptronics instead. That would work much better for me.

I went from 19,s ps2,s stock to 325/25/20 rears and 235/30/20 front pss and the ride improved on my 997.1 c4s🚗

Quick Reply: 18 x 10 rears on 997 c2?
