I have a Passport Max, which uses GPS to learn and lock-out false alerts. It doesn't quite have the range of the V1, but cries wolf far, far less, especially in the city.

So, V1 gets my vote for best open highway detector.

Passport Max, however, is far better than V1 in the city
Unless you program the V1 and silence the signals you do not care for... Or even create multiple profiles for city/road.

The V1 is a professional tool. GPS-based filters are prone to be wrong as threats change.

True.

And the V1 chassis, unchanged in 20 years, has it's share of downsides too.

Both are great detectors. Choose whichever suits your needs. And temperament

I got a new one about 6 months ago. Need to figure out how to kill the X band. Nothing but microwaves going off. Annoying as hell

So Valentine has finally figured out how to elimate the lane departure/accident avoidance radard being used by cars or do you need to completely eliminate K Band detection to achieve this?

My Volvo uses laser for accident avoidance so it's nice to know I can eliminate the laser band completely since I won't be able to avoid false alarms with this.
