WTF?
I was at a restaurant and saw this coming out from Lunch. My buddy thinks it's a VW chassis and motor, just dressed up on the outside. Didn't have time to wait for him or her to come out to ask about it. Not very well done I must say, the work seemed sort of cheaply done, but I'm sure the owner likes it.
Then the next day saw this Audi in SSF. I've seen one of these done on the show Inside West Coast Customs...very interesting way to paint the car, but not my cup of tea. Again...the owner likes it.

I think i saw that 917 faux edition on craigslist last fall, it was a 70's kit car. Advertised it as a Porsche 917! Haha I think it was like $12k
As for the chrome wrap, that's what all the kids are doing these days. I've also seen some felt wrapped ones, looks like suede or something.

Yup I think I saw that "917" on CL as well. Although I think it was painted yellow?
That chrome Rapide drives around all the time in the Sunset district up in SF. Interesting, but not my cup of tea

Fiberglass kit for VW's were all over the place in the 70's. They were a cheap and bugs could be picked up for a song, The best of the lot is from the 60's, remember the dune buggy? Most looked cheap tough but not all.
