Default Yet Another Question: Extended Warranty Experience

No experience buying extended coverage warranty. Car in question would be 2005 Carrera. Like other types of "insurance" can you negotiate price based on miles driven per year and deductable (as well as items covered). Google search so far just shows policies based on items covered without options for miles driven, deductable. I just want to avoid huge costs (as unlikely as they are) so would be willing to have high deductable. Before I call around (and then get lots of call backs) I would appreciate basic info. Thank you,

I cannot speak for your 997 (mine is still under factory warranty for a couple of months, then CPO), but I was able to get a fabulous "platinum" warranty for my BMW through our Lexus dealer. It is a Lexus/Toyota finance product. My BMW dealership recommended it. I believe it is called Lexus Extra Care. You do not have to own a Lexus to get it. My suspicion is that you will have trouble getting a platinum warranty on a 10 year old car, especially a Porsche. I wanted an "exclusionary" policy. There are many, many forum discussions about warranties. Good luck.

Hey docboss,

Sorry to resurrect an ancient thread, but I was reading your successes in getting an amazing deal & purchasing from a non-Porsche dealership.
Would you mind sharing the contact information for the Lexus dealer you purchased your warranties from?

Much appreciated!!

There is a long Fidelity warranty thread here, search for the contact at a non-Porsche suggested in some of the later posts. His last name is Jourdan and he will help you out.

Thanks, appreciate your reply but I have done that already...
I was specifically asking for the name of the Lexus dealership that docboss used.
