thought my car would have had this feature.....don't realize how much you like it until you no long have it! Can this be added as an aftermarket item? Anyone know where to get one? Thought Suncoast would have it, but no!
You may want to try to live with the flip (clear/dimmer) prismatic mirror and see if you end up liking it. I prefer it to the self-dimming. It is simple, it just works.
Mine has both sides and inside self dimming mirrors, since the LCD is known to fail I guess there must be replacements but extra wiring would be required
I have both side dimming mirrors and rear dimming mirror on my 2011 C4S. Without these, the SUV's and trucks behind me would be blinding at night. This is the only reason I haven't tinted my windows. They work so well!
I don't know if your car's windows are tinted or not, but with 25% transmissive tint film on the rear and sides I've found I no longer care about not having the auto-dimming mirror (but I certainly did before the tint!). It is like having permanently dimmed rear mirrors. The only time there is any problem is the rare times when backing up when it is totally dark out... then I just roll down my windows to make sure I can see.

Same here, had it before, don't have it now. It's horrible as our cars are so low, any vehicle behind us is blinding! Makes you wonder - over $100k of car, and they can't make that a standard feature?

yeah, there are a lot of things that you'd think would be standard....automatic lights, motorized tilt steering wheel, multi function steering wheel....guess the money is in the performance....which is amazing!!!

I prefer Porsche's policy of keeping things optional. This way your not forced into things you don't want on your car. I wish they supported installation post-build after delivery with kits however.
Putting the wiring into the harnesses for all cars as standard - thats the only 'standard' option I can get behind. Adds a few dollars per car.. maybe.
Then adding an option later is a matter of pulling off the old part, uncapping the unused wire and installing the new part.
If you get it - the side view mirrors are critical; but you need the wiring to be present for the side mirrors.
