Porsche Daily Driver in Winter thread

Oh, I spotted the difference in your post about living and driving in snow. The problem for me is that most of my winter driving is urban areas because that's where I live. And it can be brutally hard on cars. Yeah, it's fun at times but the daily grind for the commute can be a huge pain. First snowfall of the year is horrible. I applaud people who drive their Porsches in the snow, but I just won't do it. I'm sure it'd be fun, but I would hate seeing it covered in crap all the time. And whilst I trust myself in winter drive, it's the other people out there who don't bother with winter tires that worry me!
I went without my 911 for almost two weeks around the holidays. I will tell you what you already know, the time away makes getting back into the driver's seat very very special. Something to look forward to.

Very nice shot - lots of snow up in Canada it seems. Living in NY, we got hit fairly hard this past week with 2 storms.
Just wondering - has anyone noticed any impact of road salt on these cars? I know they are overbuilt but over time the salt must take a toll on the undercarriage, wheels, and finish?

My 997.1 TT has performed very wel in the mountains of Colorado. I run Pirelli Winter Snowsport Sottozeros on it. They do use magnesium chloride on the roads here occasionally as well as lots and lots of gravel. I have a clear bra on the entire front end of the car, including the entire hood. I rinse it with water frequently in the winter to remove the mag chloride.

Ground clearance is the only significant issue that I face in the turbo, and that was the same for the C4S. The AWD system is noticeably better in the turbo than it was in my 996 C4S. That being said, the 997 PSM system is less intrusive than the 996 system was. That, coupled with the wider rear tires on the 997 tends to produce more fishtails in the 997 than in the 996. It feels a little bit looser...
Overall, they have both been great in snowy conditions.

I've noticed more Pcars on the road this winter than the last few years, we generally don't get that much snow but seems more and more people have decided not to baby their cars.
But I do get weird looks from a lot of people wondering why I would drive my 911 in the winter, even caught this guy on my Dash Cam taking a pic of the car.
