Default What to buy?

I just sold an older 911 and I immediatelt started shopping 996 tt's.
Then I noticed the 40th AE at 345 hp.
And for close to same money is a really nice 997.1 s at 355 hp
It's nice having a platform for uber power with an engine that can take it.(tt)
997 s is a gorgeous car with a more sophisticated chassis.
40th, well it's kinda nice w limited production.
I'm not tracking at all just to go on runs, nothing serious.
Any advice from someone who has driven 2 out 3 at least or just an opinion would be helpful.
Thanks,
Kevin

996tt or 997.1. Drive both and buy the one you like the best. Some say the 996tt will be increasing in value. YMMV

The interior on the 997.1 (more so on the 997.2,) is worth the price of admission. Now, I haven't driven a 911 TT in either generation so I can't comment on that but I don't think I'd be happy with the 996 cockpit. Some don't care about such things over the performance but I do hence why I looked at the 997. YMMV

It really depends on what you want the car to do. For back road fun in the general price range, I'd also add the 997.2 C2 (with 345hp it's real close to the 997.1 C2S's 355hp) and the 987.2 Cayman S (mid-engined, lighter, can easily keep up and a really engaging ride).

It's really important that you drive as many as you can. My opinion is that there aren't better or worse Porsches, just different ones. Each has its own unique character, and frankly its flaws as well. The equation is different for everyone, but I guarantee you'll find that some "click" with you better than others.

I agree that you should also consider the 987 Cayman/Boxster. While I give the styling edge to the timeless 911, the mid-engined Porsches are telepathic scalpels. For the same money as a base 997 you can have a 987.2, or an S for a little more. I currently have a 987.2 Cayman and Boxster that I'll eventually be selling, both excellent cars.

I can't think of a single thing I liked more about my 996TT than my 997.2C4S other than red light racing.

The TT was fun for giggles in straight line acceleration from a rolling start but I much prefer my 997.2 day in and day out.

Ultimately I only have 29HP less and it's much more useable in the 997 package.
