A low mileage 2010 or newer Aston Martin DB9.

I watched it last night and was a bit astonished by the price point, really keep on thinking, that will be the last bid and then someone else came in.

Yes you could - you could turn around and buy another one for $15K less. So stay in a 911 and pocket $15-20K..

Someone paid $20K for a bodykit - sheesh

At an auction there is a phrase that is quite common ... the winner's curse. Most sellers love to sell at an auction for just this reason. And if you can get into a high end auction like B-J, or RM all the better.

This sale does indeed look like an anomaly at this point in time. But maybe it's a trend ...

I don;t trust BJ reported sales numbers. many cars reported sold still in sellers hands after the auction.
RM is the best, very reputable company.

True...but I watched it live so that was the price off the block.

Exactly. One of my buds from the 993 world said the same thing. The Misha kit is cool....but not $20k cool.

That is truly the benefit of a big auction with a bunch of big egos on TV surrounded by peers, friends, etc and yes, some are drinking. It only takes two people to bid against each other and claim, my wallet is bigger than yours...

Don't forget the buyer's premium! (What, 9-10%?)

So $95,700 with the buyer's premium. That's before sales tax and state license fees. In California it would put it right around $105,000. Yes, if someone offers me $95K for my 2011 C4S with only 8,000 miles I'll sell. That's $20K more than I paid a year ago.

I was there and saw the car after it sold. There were like 5 Porsches there out of over a 1000 cars. People do not know what they are buying.Gooding and Company had the great Porsche classics and I got to see Jay Leno donate his SRT 8 to charity. His 50k car went for 360k.
