Default CD/DVD player

Greetings everyone,

I'm a proud new owner of an 06 997 C2S, but know very little about the car. One thing I've noticed, so far, is that the cd/dvd reader, in the glove box, is intermittently operating when the car is just sitting, without the key. I can't say if it does it when the car is locked, but after I unlock the doors and open one, I can hear it turn on and off, every so often. I removed the cd that was in the player, but it makes no difference, still does it. I assume this is not normal behaviour and am hoping for a guide on a fix? Oh, it doesn't have navigation.

thanks,

John

Do you mean the CD change in the front trunk? Either way, I've never heard mine so that.

I think you will find that isn't a CD player, or if it is, it isn't a factory-installed one. It is more likely the CD holder (storage only) than came in the 997.1 cars. It isn't electrically connected to anything.

More likely the noise is one of the odd normal noises that our cars like to make when you are sitting in them and thinking they are off. These noises are not unusual... in the 997 cars anyway. I think you have nothing to worry about.

Here is an image of what to storage holder looks like:

Yes, that's it! Thank you!

Where, then, is the cd/dvd player? I just looked through the manual and it doesn't say.

If you have a changer, it is in the frunk (Porsche slang for the front trunk or boot) as slamuth stated. If no changer, then there is simply a slot at the top of the PCM above the display.
