Default Buying brake parts--questions

I'm about to buy the parts necessary to do the front brakes on my '09 C2 Cab. I'm probably going with Suncoast. Does anyone have any promo codes or coupons they can share before I buy?

Also, is there any person there that I should ask for specifically?

Going to get rotors (mine are worn beyond spec), pads, new caliper bolts and clip/spring set. Going to try to salvage my existing pad sensors.

On a side note, my car has always had an annoying but harmless issue with pad shift. Are there any TSBs on this? Anyone else have this issue? I'm hoping that the new clips and springs solve it.

If you do go the Suncoast route ask for Aldo. But have you looked at this ...Parts Geek? They sell OEM with free shipping. I have bought from them before and saved some $$$. Or another place is Rockauto.

Check autohausaz.com out also. They sell Sebro rotors that I believe are OEM along with Zimmerman. Free shipping on orders over $70.
$119.95 each for coated Sebro rotors.

I'm not a pad sensor savor guy. Extreme heat, cold, ice, water, dirt, moon rays.. leave mine brittle. For the few extra bucks, they are on hand if I need them.
Are you doing them yourself?

It really is not worth the effort to save the sensors... Cost vs value....

As many others here have stated you have many options for OEM rotors/parts. Go with OEM or Sebro as the Zimmerman rotors (while Z-coated) will need to be high temp painted.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess I'll be doing a little more online shopping tonight after work. With the savings I'm realizing by not paying a shop, I'm getting Porsche or OEM parts--at least as long as my car is still under warranty.

This is especially true with my rotors. I have had bad luck with aftermarket rotors on other cars due to the market being flooded with cheap Chinese crap and I don't want to have to do this job again in a month after my aftermarket rotors warp or crack when they get hot.

The sensors are expensive and I have read some on this board say that the aftermarket ones are prone to melting. I'm pretty easy on my car and thought I'd take a shot at removing and re-installing the sturdier originals.

I will be doing this myself, yes. Got gobs of brake jobs under my belt but haven't done one on my P-car before.

Another reason I'm doing it myself is that when it's apart, I'll be painting my rotors.

Sorry, we must have been typing at the same time.

Please elaborate on the rotors. What is the OEM manufacturer for the Porsche rotors? I assume that there are only one or two.

Also, it would not occur to me to paint a coated rotor, although I would consider painting the top-hats black so that they blended into the wheel well better.

I'm willing to take the chance on the sensors--this first time.

The OEM rotors from 1998 until recently: Sebro for all models except GT3 & Cup (Brembo)
These days it is Sebro, Brembo (PFC for GT3 & Cup).
The Zimmerman rotors are Z-coated... But you will want to paint the hats as they will corrode faster then you can say Christmas.

If you are still shopping and comparing, check out Pelican Parts too. Sometimes they have a good deal.

ECS tuning has some nice stock rotors plus they offer the "cool blue" street/track pad that has great reviews for stopping w/o a lot of dust. I got the pads but haven't installed yet. Hope this helps.

Yep, I checked them but their rotor prices were pretty high. I want to get all of the parts from the same vendo just for ease of return if I have a problem. They were cheaper on the pads but the difference on the rotors more than wiped out the savings.

AutohausAZ shows the pad sensors at about $10 each, stating that they are made by Pex, OEM. What prices is the dealer quoting for the sensors?

Suncoast wants $70 per pair for the sensors. I think Pelican wants $13 per sensor. The latter is not expensive, of course.

I just don't understand the vast spread of prices between vendors for the same things. It makes it almost impossible to get a good deal coming from one vendor because each one has one or two items that are much cheaper than the competition and one or two items that are much more expensive.
