Default Replacing Sports Chrono pod

Does anyone know how to remove and replace the Sports Chrono pod? I want to put a boost gauge in that spot. It's pretty useless now.

Are there any PET/schematics on the pod?

I have a 2010 997.2 turbo.

Thanks,
Paul

I'll keep an eye here as I'd like to just remove it, and cover the hole.

Not sure, but speaking about it's value - it's not completely useless. I heard you can have time showing there on a small digital screen.

It just prys up. There is a neat replacement for the stop watch. Google "Porsche Aeroforce OBD"

There are DIY for that installation.

Any help with a wiring schematic, wiring harness or connector for a sport chrono that will be retrofitted into my 57 356 A coupe (if it's even possible) would be welcomed? Thanks in advance!

Concur with Cam above. I had a bit of a rattle in mine and popped it out and added a tiny rubber washer in the pivot to stop the rattle. It has a metal spring tab holding it in.

Just use a trim tool, or any thin prying tool to pop it up from the front. Be sure to use a thin magazine or something to protect the dash surface from the tool.

Concur with the above. I replaced mine with a leather unit. Just pop it out with a trim tool and unplug one connector after you pop it out. No problems, no warning lights, no rattles.

Pic? Did you have the "leather unit" custom made, or is there a ready-made piece?

Has anyone been able to retrofit to a car that did NOT come with one? I kind of like the look and am hoping I can add to my '07 C4S...

Not sure if I saw it on this forum... but someone without the Chrono option install a 3rd party gauge / meter by buying the original Chrono pod and drilling a hole on top of the dash board without even taking it off!!!

Having a cover to fill the space won't be absolutely flat and would be just as distracting to me.

That's why I'd like to see a pic if someone else has done it. Would think so since there's so much noise about the "wart."
