Default Heated Seats!

Haven't use them much lately as they haven't worked in over a year. Should I bother? Cost?

I would say repair them only right before selling the car. If you're casting the net wide, such as eBay Motors, you might end up with a buyer from the NE who not only will want, but NEED them. Otherwise, as long as the car is in FL, why bother? BTW could be something as simple as a fuse or loose wiring harness.

Do you know why they are not working? It's a simple system.

We get cold snaps here sometimes like today I had to wear a North Face fleece with my flip-flops

I'll have a look at wiring, any DIY's on this?

My heated seats/backrest fire up so fast I hardly get down the road and they are hot. I use them all the time in the winter. Wouldn't want a car without them in the cold.

I rarely use the heat but I used the heated seats as soon as I get in. Maybe it's just loose, check the connector, take it out and snap it back in to see what happens.

Have both sides stopped working?

If it is just one side then chances are it's a connector or the individual switch. If both don't work then it might be something else. It shouldn't be too hard to troubleshoot.

Both are out. I'm working an average of 14 hours per day this week don't have much time for troubleshooting right now unfortunately. Maybe next week.

Does your home link garage door access work? If not and it went out at the same time as your heated seats, it's likely a simple programming issue. Simple 5 min fix at the dealership.

Happened to me once when my battery died.

I just wanted post same - it happens if battery went empty once. Car sequentially disables internal system as it dies and you need piwis now to turn it all back on, if it indeed happen.
I highly doubt both heating elements died. Find indi shop nearby, typical charge for any piwis coding is about $100.

Sounds about right, happened after the car had been sitting for a few months.

Sounds like you have a solution. As far as value, I can only give my perspective. Having just been transferred to Chicago for work, heated seats was on my "must have" list. After much heart ache I passed on a reasonably loaded 997.2 C4S with 11k miles...all beacuse no heated seats. Well, and she actually raised the price I assume after realizing she was low. Might seem silly to some, but I still found a smiliar car, but CPO, and it had heated seats. I have been using them whenever the car goes out these past few days.

I'm sorry that I responded without reading your posting. I didn't intend to steal your recognition, as that seems to be important to you.
