Default Engine compartment light

The light in my engine compartment does not come on when I open the lid. I assume it needs a new light bulb. The light bulb appears to be part of the fan surround. Do I need to remove the fan housing to get to the light bulb on a 2011 4S?

No, just pry the plastic lens off to get to the light bulb.

If you are going to change the bulb, replace it with a LED bulb.

You can thank me later when you see how much brighter the LED is compared to your original bulb.

+1. If you look at the lens, There's a notch. Insert a small flathead screwdriver or plastic prying tool. Pry the lens open and disconnect it from the prongs.

It's a 124/921 wedge bulb.

The correct bulb you'll need is a 8 chip 42mm, like the one shown below.

For more information on the bulb and kit Click Here.

According to the ECS instructions, it's a festoon not a wedge?? Does it differ by model - TT v. non-TT?

Hmm, good question. Mine was a wedge type, so I assumed that all were like that. Guess there is also the festoon type as well.

They should all use the festoon model bulb in the engine compartment of the 997 throughout all models. Do you have a picture you could share of that wedge bulbs location?

As per recommendations here, I changed all the interior light bulbs (10) to LED bulbs. Easy to do. Mack sure you have the plastic interior tools if you are attempting to do this. I got mine from Harbor Freight for less than $10. The bulbs cost me $34 on Ebay.
Use the PDF instructions from "ECS Tuning" listed above.

You know, I went out to look at my engine compartment light again, since I was so sure that it was the wedge type. Guess what? I was WRONG! It is the festoon type. For some reason, the wedge type stuck in my mind. Of course I did this mod a while back, and my memory ain't as sharp in my midlife crisis age . My apologies.
