Default Clearbra white GTS?

I just got a used 2011 GTS, paint is still quite good and thinking of clear bra'ing the entire car. But based on the older threads on clear bra discoloration I think it will make the white car look worse (even though it is protecting it).

For those of you who have clear-bra'd a white car with the newer XPEL or Suntek films, are you happy with the way the white now looks?

TIA

First off...How about a few pics of your recent acquisition?? On my silver car I can see that the OEM rear wheel well shields are slightly yellowed, but am pretty sure that the newer after market films such as you mention, resist yellowing much better. I wish i could remember which film i had on my White turbo as it looked great and even though I could detect the slightest yellowing, no one else ever mentioned it (maybe being polite!! )

It's a catch 22 with these things, avoid rock chips but probably have it look off within a short period of time. I have garaged cars(Green and Blue) that have Xpel and Venture Shield. Both cars are rarely driven and pristinely maintained. Even sealed the clear bra on the light green car, both have yellowed. The previous owner of my white 911 did 1/3rd of the hood and it's starting to look awful. It's much much less prevalent when you do the entire panel. On the blue car I'm having the 1/3rd roof section removed and the pieces behind the rear tires. I'lll leave the hood and entire front end because it's hard to see the color difference when you have an entire section done.

In my experience they all yellow. They all say they won't yellow but they do. You can clean the clear bras and re-seal them so less stuff gets into the pores and they still yellow. I'm starting to wonder if it's not the glue or something. A car that gets driven 1,000 miles a year and is kept spotlessly clean in a garage should not have a yellowing clear bra after 2 years.

I have 3M clearbra on my white GTS and it looks fine. I will be replacing the yellowed pieces on the quarter panels soon. I regret not having the whole hood covered though, our hoods are small enough to be fully clearbra-ed. I plan to do that too in the near future, together with the side panel replacements.

nice of you to want to keep the paint pristine for the next owner. Me, I just like to enjoy the paint as it is and let the next owner enjoy the rock chips

Same here Buddha. But my can will not have a new owner..keeping her for a while. Nevertheless, paint resprays are cheap and a good paint shop can really do a good job. Prior to that those chips and stuff gives the car character and that so called patina of the car....beautiful! Oops back to op query. I frequently see white cars with clear bras and they looks awful after they yellow. This is more evident and faster in tropical countries I think. The yellowing starts even after only a year. I'm not spending on changing the bra every year because it starts yellowing and looks uglier than rock chips.

Thanks for the feedback all. I just got my car back from the dealer who redid the rock guards because they were starting to yellow - and the new film still takes away a little something from the white gloss.

I'm just going to nano it, avoid driving too close to other cars/trucks, and just enjoy the damn thing.

Xpel Ultimate doesn't turn yellow and has a 10 yr warranty. And if you care for your car properly you will not have a problem. I will always have my cars done in Xpel.

+1

I have Xpel Ultimate on my Carrara White 997. It's optically clear without any color to it. You really can't tell it's there. I've been so impressed I'll probably do a full wrap my next car.

Why sustain rock chips when you don't have to?

Congratulations on the new purchase!

XPEL is the only manufacturer that uses an automotive clear coat in the top layer of the film. This allows ULTIMATE to match the gloss and clarity of your factory paint better than any other film. As others have mentioned on the thread, XPEL ULTIMATE is backed by a 10 year warranty that covers yellowing. If you ever have any issues with that we will replace it parts and labor to get you and your car back on the road looking brand new every day.

If you or anyone has any questions feel free to reply here, or PM us.

I have expel as well and it works greats. It's been on the car for over 3 years and no complaints.
