About to get a 997.1 C4S just a question...
So I did all my research about the IMS and RMS and have no concerns, but I was wondering how you guys live with a 997.1 C4S for regular life/driving but perhaps not a daily driver? I've had a modded B6S4 (sold before the timing guides gernaded), then a modded Nismo Z which was fun...but its a cheap car and it shows, then what I have now...a CTS-V (stock). But I test drove a C4S and see why they are so much fun. During the test drive on a twisty road the sales guy wanted me to go faster and faster....but all I could think about was the rear coming out and me wadding it, as that was the first time I ever even drove a 911. I used to have a race license for CCS and WERA for bikes so I'm not easily waved off. Most test drives I scare the sales guy, not this time.
But anyhow, how is the C4S on long drives? say 6 to 7 hours? The one I'm looking at and drove has regular seats. Most of my driving is for fun as I live and work in the city. For the most part the car only gets out on weekends. But at times do take long trips.

I've never been so comfortable as I am in my 997.1 Turbo. I take semi regular 3-4 hr trips on weekend runs, and irregular 7-8 hr trips when heading up or down NZ, and often think on how little discomfort there is. Half the time I'll finish a drive and want to just keep on driving. I have the adaptive sports seats, but they're very similar to the comfort seats. I used my car as a DD for months, but tend to walk these days so only take it out on the weekend.
I've put GMG springs on mine which definitely firm up the ride, but I haven't noticed any additional discomfort. Am adding the TPC DSC module to help balance the stiffness and make it a little more adaptable. This can be added to a C4S, but need to retrofit a 3 axis accelerometer as well (I think).

I just did a 2 hour trip to Vail this past weekend and was very comfortable in the car. By far the most comfortable I have been in any of the 911's that I have owned.

Immediately after I bought my car last month (06 C4S) I commenced a 1200km road trip from Vancouver back to my home in Edmonton. Not once did I feel uncomfortable. I also have the regular seats. Note that I didn't do the 1200km in one shot, but I have done so in the past. If the timing had worked out (I only got the car about noon that day, and didn't get out of Vancouver proper until about 2:00) I could very well have driven it all the way home in a day.

Its very rare to find a C4S with the sports seats, at least in the DC area. One I looked at has Sports Chrono+, dimming mirrors, PASM, 19 inch turbo wheels, Bose Stereo (which would get yanked for a new system anyhow), and a few other less pricey options. Mostly complete service history, DME checked and no over-revs, 45K service done, new water pump and belt, new idler pulley, plugs last year and new-ish tires, front bumper re-spray. Would cost me 32 dollars extra per month for insurance, no biggie.

Not sure about long distance runs as I have not done one yet but plan to head up to Atlanta a few times a year and drive in the mountains with a club that runs up there and I don't expect any problems. I DD mine and sit in traffic sometimes and never get uncomfortable and I am 6'4. Oh and btw I raced with a WERA license years ago (if I told you what bike it would give my age away...LOL) and I hear u about driving a C4S as I don't mind a rear end coming out once in a while but DAMN these things stay planted in a corner and whatever you do "don't take your foot off the accelerator"...good luck with whatever you decide but I friggin love my "Wide Body"...

I've taken a couple of long runs in the 6+ hour time range and was probably more comfortable in my car than when we take road trips in my wife's Lacrosse. I think the form-fitting nature of our seats works very well by giving good even support to our bodies on long trips.
Of course, this is assuming that long trips you are asking about are taken on reasonably good roads... if the roads were harsh I'd assume it would be tiring and hard on both you and the car.

Just drove 12 hours from Atlanta to Chicago picking up my new 997.2 C2S Cream White 911!!! It was so much fun, drove through without stopping.
The comfort seats (non-sport/base) are super comfortable and the heated and AC seats are great.
Hardest part of the drive was keeping it below 90.
10/10 would recommend

I think the car is very comfortable for long drives. When I bought my 996 C4S, I drove it cross country from Colorado to Indiana. My 997 is even more comfortable.
As for worrying about the rear end coming around, it's really not an issue. With a 997 C4S, you have to really try to get the rear end to come around. Sure - you can do it - maybe if you turn of PSM on a wet, curvy road, but it is almost impossible in every day driving.

The adaptive sport seats in my '08 C2S are among the best I've ever had in a street car. I DD it as well as having taken a couple of 7-hour trips...never a problem.

I have to take my wallet out of my back pocket to be 100% comfortable. I've also learned to use the headrest a few milliseconds before stepping on it. The first few months of ownership - I had neck pain from the acceleration.
This reminds me of a friend who had a 551HP Roush Mustang. Riding in that car was painful as I didn't know when this maniac was going to stomp on it.
