Default Greetings Rennlist!

Hello all,

I am a proud new owner of a 2006 Basalt Black C2S! I've put 900 miles on her in the last 10 days... The marbled full leather Cocoa interior is incredible. Having previously owned a Boxster S, I will never own another Porsche that doesn't have that Sport button + PASM package.

Question: The wheels have some significant curb rash (previous owner), that I am going to get fixed. Local dealer says $150 per wheel and that includes painting. I've been playing around with the idea of getting them a different color since their getting repainted anyways.

So, silver, titanium, or black for the wheels?

Think it looks good as is, but I'd go with silver or titanium because they'll pop. Mine came with black which isn't my favorite, but they don't look dirty ever. I had silver on my previous 996 and spent lots of time cleaning them. That Basalt Black looks sharp.

Congrats on the purchase. You drive a bold car so, if you are painting anyway...

Nothing looks better on a black car than antique bronze IMO.

Those antique bronze look amazing on black! I personally don't like the black on black look. I'd pick a contrasting color for the wheels.

Congrats on the ride. +1 leather Cocoa.

Re the wheels. $150/wheel is about right from the p-dealer. FYI, most p-dealers will send it out for repair but there is some comfort in having them handle it all. Make sure to get a paint sample/code should you paint/powder coat them in a different color. They'll likely need a touch up at some point down the road so easier to match if you keep them stock or at least have the color code. Many years ago I had my OEM wheels repaired in the stock silver color. I eventually acquired aftermarket wheels and still have the OEM wheels in the garage/storage JIC I sell the car.

The bronze looks awesome in photos, but I think its a little too loud for my daily driver.
I agree that black on black looks kinda blah, but the light silver is a pain to keep clean.
Besides, I think I prefer how dark the wheels look when they haven't been washed for a while...

Platinum/Titanium it is!

I ended up putting the Sport Designs on mine and coating them with Armor All Wheel Protectant. Keeps them clean for weeks. When they do get dirty, the dirt hoses off easily. Keep the wheel color!

I know you've heard it on here before, but pictures really don't do it justice.

Does anyone else park in neutral?

Great looking car, really like the Basalt/Cocoa combination....and yes I always park in neutral - no lazy surprises at startup!
