Default Rear spoiler separation?

I noticed that the engine lid wasn't fitting perfectly snug on my 997.2 C4 (2011), so I extended the spoiler while the car was parked and noticed that the plasticy/rubber baffling (I have no idea what to call the structure inside the spoiler) appears to be separating.

Below are some photos -- I might be nuts, but in the 1st picture it looks like the center of the interior is pulling away/sagging from the outer spoiler. In the 3rd picture (left-rear corner of the spoiler structure), it doesn't look like the inner structure is flush with the outer lid of the spoiler.

Wider view -- does it appear that the interior spoiler section, right above the light, is separating from the outer spoiler lid?

Here's a close up view

From the left corner -- shouldn't this be flush?

Any thoughts? I haven't really looked at any other 997.2 rear spoilers up close, so don't have a benchmark to compare this against.

Yes, it has separated. You should not be able to see the rectangular "cut outs" because they should be up under the spoiler. The center brake light should be just below the edge of the spoilerm where the rectangular "cut outs" are currently.

Hope this helps.

This is a wear item. I have seen this on 993s and a few 996s as they get older.

The part you're referring to is known as the spoiler 'bellows'.

i would think that's simply due to some sort of clip(s) that have given out? or maybe the assembly just need to be snapped back into place...?

good luck.

Thanks! I tried to snap it back into place, but didn't want to push too hard. Will try again to see if I can gently get it reseated correctly.
