Strange Damage on Wiper Cowl Panel
While cleaning my Targa over the weekend, I noticed some very strange damage just below the windshield on the wiper cowl panel. Is there any way to repair this without replacing the whole part? I know suncoast sells this piece but how hard is it to remove and replace it? Is this a DIY or a stealership job?

I certainly never put a squeegee to the car during my ownership, could have happened before I guess. Are there any products which repair rubber damage like that well?

If you just want to smooth it, apply some heat (heat gun) to soften and manually push it down. It wont ever look right but will lay flat at least. But generally, replace the part.

Consider replacing the end pieces at the same time as your existing end pieces are faded from the sun. The new center cowl will be much darker. Both sides: http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...Code=997bodytr

Wipers can stay on. Open frunk, pry off the two end cowl pieces and unscrew the torx bolts underneath. There might be one other bolt visible in the frunk area, don't remember exactly. Again, this is from memory. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the hardest, this is a 2 DIY project.

Mine was faded to light gray from the sun, I got tired of temporary treatments and replaced it. As Porsche parts go it's pretty cheap, and very easy to replace. The dealer didn't have the end caps, so I've been treating them, but will replace them one of these days when I order more than just those from Suncoast, as the shipping comes to more than the parts.
I also replaced the plastic cowling (?) at the front of the frunk as it was crumbling. That too was relatively cheap and easy. The red plastic covering on the frunk latch has also faded to pink and begun to crack, but as I understand it the entire latch has to be replaced, so I think I'm going to try filling the crack with epoxy and then painting it over in red.

I must be seeing something different than others here. That gouge looks like it's in the windshield rubber gasket, not the wiper cowl...hopefully I'm not right cuz that would be a dramatically tougher fix.
