Default 997 dead

Two weeks ago my 997 was completely dead. I thought I left a light on or something put my charger on it and away I went. Three days later it was dead again. so I replaced the battery all is well. Then It sat for 5 days and is now dead again. Any ideas?

To think logically one of lights in the car is on. Check if glove box locked, if frunk light is off when frunk is closed, same for engine compartment.
To find where drain occurs may not be easy but it is doable.

Do you have a radar detector plugged in or any other aftermarket device that draws power?

One other thing to check, if you have the aux audio option in your center console, and you have a habit of leaving the USB cable plugged in, even if you don't have an iPod connected or turned on, this has been known to draw power and run down the battery over time. I learned this the hard way.

Critical info is missing. For example, you could install a new battery into a car after you killed the old one, then fire up the engine, get no kick from the alternator as you go driving about (unbeknownst to you), you suck the complete life out of the new battery, draining it completely (which is final death for a battery - even a new one), then turn the car off, not knowing you did this, then return to find out the car won't start.

Start simple. Put a voltage meter on the battery with the car started. You should see a minimum of 13.8 volts. If you see lower, the battery is not charging. The next step would then be checking voltage at the alternator to determine if the issue is that or the wiring between the two.

What year is your car? 2005 and I believe 2006 had an issue with a bad alternator cable that would not charge the battery properly.

I have a 2007 Targa. Noticed the starter turned over s bit slow. I figured I'd use a trickle charger when it sits as it's not a daily driver.

Well went out today after the car had been on the trickle charger for over a week. Starter turned over a bit slow but car started fine. Drive into town and stopped at the gas station to fill up.

Got back in and the starter cranked uber slow for a second and then the car would go dead. Assumed it was a bad battery (car has an OEM porsche battery.

I've been scanning through the boards and now wonder if I have a bigger issue than a bad battery. Saw early 997s had some issues with the positive battery cable running from the battery to the engine.

Thoughts?

Shelf life of a battery is 4 to 5 years. If you have a voltmeter check the voltage with no draw. After the trickle charge it should be around 13.6 volts.

See if the voltage drops when the starter is engaged. If not, then I'd suspect a cable and I would check voltages down the line until you find the drop. Remember, there is no such thing as a good connection!

If you have good voltage right to the starter then the starter is bad.

If it does drop at the battery, then I suspect the battery.

If you used a trickle charger for a full week you may have boiled off some water. Check this before you replace the battery.

There is a tester that heats up like a bread toaster that can tell you the battery's condition as well.

Good luck.
