Default DIY - Replace Cup Holder Tensioner

I recently noticed that one of my cup holder tensioners was missing, so I ordered a new one and installed it. At some point Porsche must have updated the kit since my other cup holder only had one spring while the new kit has two.

Porsche PartCup Holder Tensioner Repair Kit
Tools: Hex T25, ratchet, extension

Replacing the part is pretty straightforward.

1. Open the glove compartment and remove the two hex T25 bolts that hold in the cup holder. They can be found by looking up at the edge lip once the glove compartment is open.

2. Pull out the cup holder and open the cup holder extension that is missing the tensioner.

3. Slide the smaller U shaped side of each spring onto the tensioner so that it presses against the underside. The picture below shows how it should be installed.

Cool. Just fixed mine. Ordered the part from Suncoast. Only used 1 spring. Works fine.

Thanks for that... I found that part on the mat and couldn't figure out where it had come from! Ordered!

Suncoast wants $13 to send those 14 gram parts ups ground! They would cost a buck to send us postal mail. No option. Grrrr. I just need the springs. Might just source those.

Somebody above used only 1 spring - you might see see if he has the other.

Or I have 1 spring but a broken tab. So we could buy one and split it as I only need the tab?

$8.60 shipping here to AZ.

You're right, their shipping fees are ridiculous

Hello rlshaw, I need just the spring. Any chance I can bribe you to mail me your extra one?

Hello Dartmouth, Just came across this post from 2014 re cup holder tensioner clip. You mentioned you had an extra spring for the tensioner. I need just a spring for mine. (just purchased a 2005 C2 Cab )

What is the remote chance you 1) still have that spring? 2) would consider mailing it to me?

I just replaced my tensioner and actually ended up just doing it in situ instead of removing the cup holder - the angle is a bit awkward but it can be done - placement of the spring is important (only one needed).
