Default iPod on 997.1 PCM

I bought a 2008 Targa 4S and it came with an iPod connector in the center console. It seems to work when I select CD on the PCM but I am not sure how to navigate my playlists or music library.

Does anyone have something like this setup?

You cannot navigate through PCM, it's simply audio-out, to control you need aftermarket solution like Dension or mObridge.

After experimenting with the PCM for a while (more than an hour) I figured it out. Now I can navigate my playlists, sort through music by Artist, Album or Genre and select either sequential playback or random playback.

This is just the cherry on the pie on my new (to me) 911

Really? How? PCM doesn't have that capability on 997.1 as far as I know!

I have no clue how it was installed. When I opened the center console there was an iPod connector (previous to the lightning connector) in there. I hooked up an old ipod (not even touch) and when I select CD on the PCM it shows me the contents of the ipod.

The CD list shows the main menu: Playlists, Artists, Genre, etc. When you select one of those from the CD list the track list then shows the content of your previous selection. Once you have your artist, playlist or genre selected you can start listening to your music, skip forward or backwards to the track you want and play in normal or random order.

Could be an aftermarket unit already installed....

That must be it. The other unexpected pleasant surprise was that PCM is also bluetooth enabled and I can connect my iphone 5 via bluetooth and access my contacts list, place calls, receive calls and all through PCM controls and car speakers.

That is just great! It saved me from having to go buy one and install it myself

I found out I have NAV-TV's Tookie Bluetooth for iPhone connectivity and their iPod interface that replaces the CD changer.

Can't stream music via bluetooth though
