You really got to wonder what else (or who else) she "didn't see." People like this are a complete hazard to the public and should not be allowed to drive unaccompanied.

Well, at least he has a sense of humor about it. It's one of the things that angers me about moving to LA. People parking by feel(hitting your bumper) is becoming an accepted thing. Reminds me of France. Standard procedure for parking there. People wonder why I only take my better cars to known spots. Between valets that can't drive stick and people that park by feel it's not worth it.

On a side note - Is that his Red 959 that I've seen at a few events including the concours at Santa Monica airport a few weeks ago?

Actually a really great story about this very rare situation.

Driving an amazingly rare and valuable car out on the street.
The Polo players remark
The stupidity of people that don't want to take responsibility for their actions
Jerry's reaction - sounds like a Woody Allen short film.

Did you guys see the video of Seinfeld and Leno riding and talking cars in Jerry's also rare early 356? That's a short that is really worth watching. Think you can get to it on YouTube or Jay's Garage. Great stuff.

Jerry's right she is an idiot! Sad and funny. Thanks for posting!

I thought he had a hanger at Santa Monica that he uses to store some cars.

"but the idea of having her in my life for one more second was intolerable." - Jerry

hhaha, I wish I could take one last stab at other drivers who've backed up into me, in the papers.

Jerry has two things at work here. Wisdom and wealth. It's just a car, and some battles are not worth fighting. Even if you win, you lose.

How many people allow you to just drive off after hitting their million dollar car? Crazy.

I had a woman rear end me in manhattan a few years back while we were stopped at a red light. I was on a moto. I was totally cool until she said "I didn't see you". It was tough to understand because i was sitting on her hood. I told her that she should probably park the car and take the subway home.

If you risk a coronary over a little fender bender then it's like the old saw: if you have to ask the price then you can't afford it.

If Constanza would have been guarding the parking spot in front of Jerry's car, this would have never happend (but George is still probably arguing about the spot he's trying to secure in front of Seinfeld's building).

Honestly it's a bad "dream" that no one wants to have happen right in front of them. No wonder he immediately went back home and threw the covers over his head (so he could wake up and realize he was only having a nightmare).

I am impressed with Jerry's "Professionalism"... what I mean by that:

- If he gets into a legal battle.... think of the bad press
- If a shark gets wind, he could be in for a "legal extortion" battle
- He insulted her without insulting the whole gender for displacing blame..... "Why is it always my fault", something I say everyday, as well as 100% of my friends.... I am not stereotyping here, just stating a fact that 100% of all the friends I have now or ever had say this near daily.
- He gets the body work done the way he wants it... by a super expensive pro with no hassle
- He puts this behind him very quickly
- Gets a laugh out of it

Peace

I think he handled it really well. I would not have handled it this well (and I would have regretted it later). It's a no-win situation that can only be solved by first repairing the RS and then maybe picking up a little something special for your trouble - a Singer perhaps? ;-)
