Default Price Help

Guys, I need a little help / advice on pricing a '05 997. It belongs to a good friend of mine who is a long time Porsche owner and fanatical about the care and maintenance of his cars.

This one is pretty basic, 6speed, Guards Red over black. 67k miles. Always maintained by the local Porsche dealer. IMO, the car is about as clean and nice for a 10 year old car as you can find.

I know a little about 996 prices, a lot about air cooled prices but nothing about 997 pricing. And I realize there are other variables. But assuming a solid PPI, what would be a fair price?

THANKS.

The 05 997 engine has the same IMS bearing as the 996. I would find out if the car had had its bearing upgraded. Barring that, I'd guess high 30's on the price.

High 30s is too much for that car and mileage from what I've seen since I've started actively looking.

Agreed. You two should agree to be somewhere in the high $20k range ($26-29k) given a clean PPI. Lower end if the IMS bearing hasn't been upgraded and higher end if it has. Good luck and I love a Guards Red car!

IMS is first priority. Options are another thing. If it has nice wheels/tires, sporty steering wheel, chrono package, upgraded seats, heated seats, XM radio....then the seller can hold out a bit more on the price.

Depends on the options along with a huge factor of IMS. I would either walk away or budget and agree on an offer in which you get the IMS upgraded.

I like what van said about 27k private party, for basics basic options. But if the exact car has more options like Sport Chrono, 19inch wheels, tiptop maintenance records,...then it will sell itself, and the seller won't have to budge much.

It seems there are a few around the $32-33k mark at some dealers for 2005-2008s. And quite a few between $35-40k.

Know the options you must have and know what you would be flexible on. IMO I need heated seats, darker interior (none of that vomit light gray color)...because you only see the interior when you drive, unless there are windows nearby.

Patience is huge in the 911 search. Look at Galves.com, and it's a bit of a PITA as the app sucks, but take a bunch of screenshots with combination of all options, and mileage, then build a spreadsheet.

I'd go as high as $35k if the car was near perfect and didnt need any expensive items (IMS, Clutch, Tires, etc.)

I havent seen many go below $30k with that kind of mileage - at least rarely are they advertised below $30k unless they are over 80k mi or have an accident.
