Passenger side mirror adjustment stopped working
#17
No write-up... It's pretty easy, honestly. Just pivot the mirror so you can wedge a couple fingers behind it and slowly pry it out. It's not as scary as it sounds. From there, it's just a few torx bolts and an electrical connector.

Well the part is already on order and should be here on Friday. Then I will change it out. Cross my fingers tha I don’t break anything. I will keep everyone updated and may take a bunch of pictures so I can show what to do or NOT to do. Ha ha. Thanks for your help. PS I hate electrical issues.

Well replacing the mirror motor worked on my 997.2. The side mirror works perfectly now. I have power memory seats and this is the part number I purchased # 99762404801, about $95. Taking the mirror off was a little nerve wracking as it felt like the mirror was going to crack. It didn't thankfully and there is some bad information on the internet about how to remove it. This picture is the proper way for the 997.2. It took all of 10 minutes to change out. Enjoy.

Thanks for this thread. 2006 997.1 C2. My passenger mirror stopped auto-adjusting on reverse at about 105K miles. Replacing the motor did the trick for me. Just about the easiest DIY you can do on this car.

Passenger side mirror not working.
Same here. Replaced the motor today and it fixed the issue. I have 2006 997 Carrera S Coupe. PRT# is 99762404801 (Adjusting Motor). Very simple.

Just push mirror in the corner and pull out the edge.
It will go in as easy as it came out. There are 3 T10 Torx screws holding the motor in place.

For those that replaced, it sounds like your mirror was not really adjusting properly before this? I've got a slightly different, but maybe similar issue. My passenger mirror adjusts just fine, and it will to the auto tilt down when I go into reverse, but when I move back into gear (Manual Transmission) it doesn't go back up. I can use the joystick to manually move it back up without issue, but the auto up does not happen. Strangely when I turn the car off, it does tilt back up. Just not while the car is running.
Any thoughts/ideas?

Replace
If you haven’t replaced the motor then I would make that suggestion. It’s inexpensive and simple to do.

I have another problem related to the mirror system in the car.
I have an original dimmer in the car (267 F, 268 F, 271 C), however, the main center dimmer and the dimmer of the passenger mirror - do not work.
*(Regarding mirror, driver, I switched to glass without a dimmer so I probably do not expect the dimmer to work ..).
**Less related to the subject, but does anyone here know how to activate the "HEADLIGHT CLEANING SESTEM" (288 T)? LOL
I'm really frustrated and I do not know where to start checking why the dimmer of my main mirror and passenger mirror does not work.
Is there a fuse associated with dimming? Anyone had problems with dimming?
Thoughts. Thanks

Quick update on my issue "My passenger mirror adjusts just fine, and it will do the auto tilt down when I go into reverse, but when I move back into gear (Manual Transmission) it doesn't go back up. I can use the joystick to manually move it back up without issue, but the auto up does not happen."
Turns out I had forgotten that I had disconnected my battery a couple weeks earlier when working on a PCM/CarPlay install. That wiped the seat and mirror memory positions so it had nowhere to go back to. I saved a new seat memory and now it works as it should. Thanks all for the ideas!
