Question on Audio/Bose system on GTS
Hi Folks
I'll introduce myself more fully once I'm sitting in the seat of the 2012 GTS I'm to pick up tomorrow. Quick question on the audio system.
It's got the nav module, Bose surround system, Sirius. Does this unit accept an SD card for MP3 play, or have an aux input? Coming out of a 996 GT3, very seldomly had any music on, but hope to do so more in the GTS.
Thanks

OK, got the car, and have tried two card readers with an SD card. Neither show up on Source in the PCM. Am I using the wrong type of media and/or reader? My laptop and desktop both recognize the music on the SD cards.

From the PCM manual page 34 supported file types are:
And from Page 43 the supported partition types, formats, and directory structure are:
You mention that you are using a card reader with a SD card. If all else looks good, try a generic USB memory stick - the card reader may require a driver that is not supported by the PCM.
Audio formats supported
The PCM supports the following audio formats:
MP3
WMA
AAC-LC
DTS
Dolby Digital
MLP
Because of the multitude of different audio
programs (encoder) a general possibility of
playing all MP3-, WMA- and AAC-formats can not
be guaranteed.

Initially, tried it twice, and the unit did not see the USB drive. Came back later, it saw the drive, but told me it could not find music in the right format. Tried that twice. Left it plugged in.
Out for a drive, stopped the car. When I restarted, it gave me a msg that music was loading. That went on for quite a while. When it stopped, I tried to access the music, but, again, got a msg that it could not find anything in the right format.
Suggestions? How to troubleshoot? Thinking it's the driver issue as noted above. I have 23 gb of music I'm trying to load.

I have mp3's on a 2GB flashdrive, plugged in to the usb and it plays right away. I don't have a SD card reader on my unit (non Nav), are you sure you didn't insert the SD card into the SIM card slot?

This is probably my problem. As noted, my laptop and desktop can read the music, but I see a msg that the required driver has been installed. I'll try one of my thumb drives later today, and report back.
