Default can durametric even reset steering angle sensor?

now i am a bit skeptical on what durametric really can do for a buyer. for a cable that expensive, can it even reset the steering angle sensor? or for something like this durametric pro is needed. if it cant even be used to do this steering reset we enthusiast buyers were really duped into buying an overpriced reset tool.

The Durametric feature matrix says it can do "steering angle calibration" - is that the same thing?

You reset steering angle every time you do an alignment? why not leave the wheel centered and work both tie rod ends?

I may be off-base but I suspect that there is more here than just making sure the steering wheel is centered. I suspect that there is a sensor somewhere that is reading steering angle as an input to PASM.

You are correct PT. Rich, i also thought the same thing when i did my first alignment, said to myself if that thing is centered there should not be anything wrong....read throguh the posip and sure enough it indicates a reset everytime an alignment is done.

I can't get it to work on my car, always shows one fixed value even when turning the wheel, and often crashes the software.

Steering angle comes off the column via sensor by the dashboard... so I've just been setting the steering wheel to center and working the tie rod ends (like I do just about every other car i've ever worked on so you don't end up with tie rods unequal and screw up turn radius on either side at lock). I've never noticed any issues with PSM and I've done alignments twice on this car now (though very little adjustments at all).

Can anyone confirm this approach works... or doesn't?

BTW, there's an enthusiast and an pro version of durametric.. one might have it and the other no.
