Standard is mobil 5w40. I get Pentosin as that is what is put in German 911's as I have access to it. It can be bought at Advance online but its 11.70 a quart.

So standard is Mobil 1 - 5W40 regardless of where you live (climate)?

Open your engine compartment lid and you'll see the Porsche recommendation of Mobil 1 0W-40. Works fine in hot Texas climates.

Thanks but that is why I am also asking like the OP, as the guys at MBR told me the same thing you did but the Mobil 1 sticker on the engine compartment lid does not say which viscosity...it just says use Mobil 1...so it is 0W-40 even for us Floridians?

Did you look at your owner's manual?

If you are in colder climate where the temperature will get 0F degrees and lower I would run 0w40. If you are in more moderate climates then 5w40.
In Texas 5w40 year round
In Minnesota/Chicago/Maine 5w40 during the spring-fall 0w40 in the winter.
Alaska 5w40 summer 0w40 rest of the year.
(5w40) is good to 13F below 0 but why run it if there is a chance it goes below.

In Pennsylvania I run 5w40 most of the year but Dec/Jan/Feb I run 0w40

Makes a ton of sense and that is what I was thinking about (prior post)...so I would run 5W40 here is Florida all year as it has never gotten to 13deg where I live...Ha! Ha!

I use Lubro-Moly (Liqui-Moly) 0W40 in Texas and it works fine for me. I have very healthy oil pressure, 5 bar while moving, and 3 bar or so at idle when warmed up.
