Well the 2005 Turbo S Cabriolet is a 996, so I'm sure you are better off asking in the 996 section

I was actually looking at the '05 Turbo S before I settled on a normally aspirated 997.1 (C4S). In a nutshell, the Turbo S is the same car as the regular 996 Turbo from 2001-2005, however carbon ceramic brakes and the X-50 powerkit (two very expensive options) came standard. Just Google "996 X-50" and you will find information on what that option includes.

The 996 Turbo S was made for only one year (2005) and is the last model built in the 996 line. If the car you are looking at is priced well and you like the style, then I say go for it. You can't go wrong with the Metzger engine, which is an entirely different motor than what came in the normally aspirated 996's. Unfortunately the prices of the 996 Turbos are in the gutter (good for buyers, bad for sellers) because of the negative perception surrounding the normally aspirated 996's (IMS bearing failure, RMS leaks). That said, the 996 Turbos (S or non-S) represent incredible bang for the buck and really are good cars (IMO).

FWIW when I was looking this past winter, prices were all over the map for the Turbo S. Some guys were asking in the $80K's while some dealerships had them in the mid-to high $50K's. Obviously if you can get it for the latter price, I think you are doing OK.
