Bluetooth OBD II custom PID's
I'm using the iPhone, bluetooth ELM327 with the OBD Fusion app. and it will not give oil temp. Yes, it's on the dash, but I'm just wanting information on the iPhone as well, cause we know the gauges on the dashboard are not dumb but somewhat a little inaccurate. To the question.
Has anyone added a custom PID? I have done a search and it does appear to be a PID that does oil temp, but I just want to make sure I can't hose something up by adding a custom PID, mainly the DME.

Is this what you're looking for? I saw them at Southern Worthesee and they were testing a Porsche version in a Cayenne. He told me the 911 part would be out Fall time frame, but you can call and find out exactly. Nice guys. Whole assembly was $350 at the show.

I have no experience with adding custom PID's, but here's the list of oil releated codes for a DME 7.8.x Engine:

P0713 Transmission oil temperature Above limit
P1163 Oil-pressure switch
P1164 Oil-pressure sensor

P0195 Oil temperature stuck
P0196 Oil temperature sensor
P0197 Factory Fault Code 125 - Oil temperature sensor Below limit

Trust me, it was a pain in the ****.
Had to Jailbreak the Iphone, then install an app to see the unsupported bluetooth protocol. And it seems to only work with OBD Fusion app and no other OBD readers.
I worked on it for like 4-5hours when I received the elm327.
I highly recommend not going that route.
Getting the elm with WIFI is supposed to work without all the extra work.
