Can't believe it didn't come with it, but in all honesty, I have only used mine 2x in 5+ years! and for a very short time at that. Radar detector went off so I slowed it down and put the cc on. No cop or ticket, turned it off and sped up again! GL

For the record: I'm having cruise control (tempomat) retrofitted on my 2009 C4S on the 29th of May at Porsche Bern so it's very possible.
I'm also a tad puzzled why the option was/is not standard with the PDK option as it was fitted on my old MT 2002 C4S
Anyway, if it can have any interrest this is setting me back around CHF 850 in Switzerland (about the same in USD)

I've never seen a 997 (in the US) without cruise control. I do not recall that being an option. I agree that its use in a sports car is minimal - perhaps on long stretches of empty interstates.
