I discovered something disturbing when looking at my build sheet. It lists the warranty start date as 12/28/2011. The problem is that I bought the car in 8/11/12. I remember a thread about this last year. What should I do to coirrect this error?
On the plus side, and as I'm currently in Florida and my car is at my house in PA and was not able to look at my window sticker, it does list limited slip rear differential lock and sport chrono package plus. In reading a recent thread about LSD, I wasn't certain if my car had it or not.
* I contacted the dealer where I now service the car and he gave me some insight and told me to contact the selling dealer's Sales Manager which I did. It didn't seem like he was too happy that I discovered this, but said he would find out what was needed to the correct the issue. We will see what happens.

Considering the 12/28/2011 date, it is "highly likely" that the original dealer "punched" the car as sold so that it would be credited against the current month/year objectives that PCNA sets for the dealers. This is a fairly common occurrence in the industry, not just with Porsche. Unfortunately, that also starts the warranty clock as it becomes the "in service date". Not to worry (yet), but your selling dealer has some "splainin" to do. If it was represented as new, never in service, they owe you some additional warranty as a minimum. Keep us posted.

Yes, it was represented as new and never in service. I later checked Carfax and it has the car listed as sold for the first time on the date that I purchased it.
I'll let the Sales Manager have the opportunity to make this right, and if not, I'll find someone who will make it right.
Thanks for the link. Love the build sheet print out. Good to have with the car. Interestingly my warranty start date is later than the in service date shown on the service records I got from the original owner of my car. Hopefully that means beden's dealer can make right by his warranty start date.

The earlier date is the date the dealer took ownership of the car from Porsche. Your warranty starts the on the in service date IE.. your purchase date. Dealer will honor your waranty from the in service date even though for Porsche, the date is the earlier date. My cars warranty date was earlier than the delivery date as well and I had no issues with the warranty being honored from the date I took delivery months later.
Good news. Another rennlister figured, for the moment, you can still look at a particular VIN by modifying the following link to have the VIN you want to check.
Unfortunately it's been locked down...i can't get in without a password or login ID
If you use a regular browser and the link I provided you should be ok. Just edit the VIN in the link to be the VIN you want to look up. Good luck. Hopefully this route won't be shut down.
