I actually think the cab with the top down has really clean lines. Cabs have long been part of the icon and 911 line.............I'm not sure what the exact stats are, but they sell as a very high percentage of all 911s sold. Also, the sensations and sounds with the top down cannot be beaten.

My wife and I took our cab 997.2 S out one warm evening and we love the sound under a bridge and seeing the stars. Life is too short to be covered up.
I've been sold. If it passes PPI tomorrow I'm making an offer

PT, is this the cab you posted with the dirty top? If you get it, buy a can of RAGGTOP cleaner/protectant and that should do the trick. I had to buy my cans from Amazon as I could not find them local.
I think you'll soon find to "cab" was the right choice.

Yep. Was dirty and had some slight frays, but local Porsche Indy shop said $1200 for parts/labor for new fabric install. Didn't seem too bad if I had to.

Yeah that's not bad at all. I think you'll find a good cleaning and few coats of protection will go a long way. Good luck with the PPI...

ExploreSo ****ty. Car kinda failed PPI with major cylinder scoring on 5 and mainly 6 cylinders. Indy Porsche shop said they wouldn't recommend the purchase....

And that's why you do a PPI....I assume you're calling all the Porsche dealers within say 250 miles of you? Are you stuck on a certain color or options? Just be patient, the right one will come along soon enough.
No. Just trying to get a good deal. Looking in the 40-45k range. Not picking on anything. Just price right now.

OK, this thread has changed my future plans.
For the record, I consider myself a coupe guy. Sold my Cayman a couple of months ago, and I've been looking for a 997.2 Coupe. Figured my first 911 should be a MT coupe while you can still get one.
Then I stumbled across a good deal on a well-optioned 2009 C2S cab. Since I don't even like the sunroof open in my wife's BMW, she insisted that I drive a cab at the local dealer. I really liked it, and pulled the trigger. "New to me 997" thread to follow, car is being shipped to me.
I live in San Diego, and it seems stupid to not give it a go. This thread has been helpful in weighing the pros/cons, so thanks to the OP.
