18" Track wheel/tire selection for 997.2 NB
#16
I'm also looking to get some 18" rims/tires for the track, but have a 997.1 WB. I found some factory rims for a good price at http://www.finishlinewheels.com/PORSCHE/911/2008/ but they only have 18x8, 18x10, and 18x11. Does anyone know if these would work (18x8f/18x11r) or do they need to be wider? My current rims are 19x8.5 -55 and 19x11.5 - 67
Thanks
Thanks

I looked thru you old threads but couldn't find the one your talking about. I was going to get the 18x11 for the rears not 18x10, if they would work.
I also found some OZs on tire rack (18x8.5 and 18x10,11, and 12). They look a little better, but I'm not to concerned about that. The main reason I'm getting them is that I'm sick of burning thru $1500 sets of street tires on the track. The OZs cost about $800 more, which is why I'm more interested in the OEM rims (if they are really OEM rims, it's suprising how cheap they are).
I'm probably going to be putting nitto nt01s on them (235/40-18 and 305/35-18)
I'm just trying to save a little by getting the OEM ones, but if y'all recommended the wider ones I can get the OZs.
Thanks,
Chris

The OZ's on Tire Rack work great...8.5 front and 12" rears...you mentioned 997.1 WB as in Widebody? You have a Carrera 4S? if so use GT3RS wheels....or if you have a 2 wheel drive Carrera S just use GT3 sizes for 18"...offsets and widths.
Also Nitto NT01 245/40/18 and 305/35/18 are same overall diameter as stock 19" so they work perfectly and are the best drive to the track r-comp tire going.
enjoy!

In my opinion 8.5 front and 12" rear are not balanced. Ideally it should be 10" front and 12" rear to run 275/335 on proper rims. One should choose first runnng tires then look at optimal rims to fit. So, again, realistically, most people who did not rebuild stock cars can fit either 245/305 or may be 255/315. First size in 18" rims dictates Nt01, secnd size is toyo r888.
As ccw makes 9" fronts and 12" rears it works ok for most sizes but if you reduce front to 8.5 it makes 12" in rear useless, 11" would be better if you intend to run on 245/305.
I tried once to rn on a 245/335 tires and in my opinion it is pure torture, car does not go into turn at all on such micmatch tires.
I put 275 on my front 9" rims but i feel it is not an optimal fit as rm is not wide enouth and rubber has too much movement in turns compared to how solid 335 sits n a 12" wide wheel.

Hi all. I know this is an old thread, but I am contemplating buying some spare wheels/tires for my 2009 997.2 C2 for track days. My car is currently set up with OEM 18 wheels and Michelin PSS (235/40 18 and 265/40 18).
I have a found a set of local wheels priced well that the seller is stating came off a 2008 GT3. I asked for any details on the offset, etc and he said the wheels are not stamped with any info.
The wheels are mounted w/ Hoosiers on them (245/40 18 and 295/30 18)
I looked at tire the rack website to compare offsets and options for both cars and found some overlap regarding wheels that are listed as fitting for both.
At this point, I assume they will work fine, but wanted to ask for guidance here as a double check to see if they should fit, and if anyone has additional information to offer I may not be considering such s needing spacers, etc.
Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

I bought the HRE flowforms when they were on sale a couple of years ago.
They seemed to be a good compromise of strength, weight and price.

i second what others have said about Nitto tires, I really like them.

I think what you see is typical CCW C10 series forged wheels. It will fit no problem to NB 997 like yours with ET50-53 front and ET58-63 rear. They are probably 9" x 12" but you could check. 12" is great for NT01 305/35-18s where is 11" is better for any 295.
