Yep. I removed mine and replaced it with black. I used a hair dryer to warm it up. Starting at the top I pulled it away from the body and stretched it upward. That way it left no glue behind.

They have 12mil 3M stone guards available, I have heard they do not yellow like the factory ones. Can anyone confirm?

suncoast, sunset, and anybody who does clear-bra can sell you the guards. There are plenty more vendors out there.

Yes, they can be replaced without paint damage. I bought OEM stone guards and replaced them myself. I bought a putty spreader set from Harbor Freight Tools to use in place of a squeegee.

Evidently it depends on how badly deteriorated they are. The dealer and my high-end independent body shop both said if I had replaced mine a couple years earlier they would have come off with no damage, but since they were dull and cracked from shrinkages, it was doubtful they would come off without some damage to at least the clear coat. I took the car to a place that does wraps, and they took almost an entire day steaming them off bit by bit, and there was almost no damage, but just enough to show through a new set of clear guards. So what they did was put on gloss black film first and then clear 3M over it. It looks really good.
